Q1: How does AFM polishing compare to manual polishing in terms of quality?
AFM produces far superior and more consistent results than manual polishing. Manual polishing is inherently inconsistent, with some areas being over-polished while others remain rough. AFM polishes the entire die bearing surface uniformly, resulting in perfectly smooth surfaces that eliminate die lines and improve metal flow during extrusion.
Q2: How long does it take to polish a typical extrusion die?
A standard die that takes 4-6 hours to polish manually can be finished in 60-90 minutes with our AFM system. Complex hollow dies that take 8+ hours to polish by hand can be completed in 2-3 hours. One operator can run 2-3 machines simultaneously, further increasing productivity.
Q3: Will AFM polishing damage my dies?
No. Our flexible abrasive media removes only microscopic peaks and imperfections from the die surface without altering the die's original geometry. Unlike manual polishing, which can remove too much material and shorten die life, AFM actually extends die life by 30-50% by creating a uniform, stress-free surface.

Q4: How often do I need to replace the abrasive media?
The abrasive media can be reused for approximately 50-70 hours of polishing time before needing replacement. The exact lifespan depends on the type of dies you polish and the level of surface finish required. We offer affordable media replacement kits and can help you calculate your expected media consumption.
We offer three standard models:
TZ-PG-139-280: For dies 139mm-280mm in diameter
TZ-PG-280-420: For dies 280mm-420mm in diameter
TZ-PG-420-600: For dies 420mm-600mm in diameter
We also offer custom solutions for larger or non-standard die sizes.
